Last week the Student Health Council (SHC), under the leadership of Arjun Laud, hosted therapy dogs from The Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs at The Warren Alpert Medical School. It was just in time to help reduce the stress of MD28s as they prepared for final exams.

Lunch & Be | December 2024 | Kelsey Bogdan: Mural Workshop

The Lunch & Be series aims to engage students and faculty/staff in different art practices co-led by artists from the community, whether it be through movement, music listening, observing art, or writing activities. December's session was lead by Kelsey Bogdan, an artist, scholar, and educator from The Warren Alpert Medical School class of MD27 who led a group mural painting workshop.

Student Health Council (SHC) Hosts Hartselle Event

This week, the Student Health Council (SHC) hosted a program fondly referred to as the Hartselle event. Dr. Stephanie Hartselle gave participants Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques they could use to maintain and improve mental health. She spoke about finding the right therapist and finding balance in medical school. Dr Hartselle also shared her experience in psychiatric practice, including inpatient and outpatient.
In October, Dr Kelly Holder represented The Warren Alpert Medical School at the Fourth National Summit on Promoting Well-Being and Resilience in Healthcare Professionals hosted by The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital. Dr Holder was joined by Greg Salgueiro, MS, RD, LDN where they presented on the recent Suicide in Healthcare Conference held at The Medical School in September.

2024 Out of the Darkness Community Walk

Each year, the Brown healthcare community participates in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Last Sunday, Kelly Holder from the Office of Well-Being, as well as many more in our community, raised over $2,000 to help save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.
